Where it all started.
As far back as I can remember, every family adventure of my childhood like fishing, backpacking, or Mountain biking also included coffee. When I was younger, my grandfather built his own espresso bar in a little nook in the kitchen. We would come back from our adventures and most of my family members would sit down and talk about life over a cup of the good stuff. It wasn’t long until I also joined the family coffee club.
Living life and being with community are intertwined with drinking coffee. One of my first jobs was as a barista. I also worked a myriad of other less meaningful jobs, and went to graduate school for Cogitative Neuroscience but I ended up dreaming of coffee again and again. Somewhere in my journey, I also met the love of my life, who happened to be a therapist. We both had similar values of sharing in community and making space for conversation, reflection, and growth. While she was not a big coffee drinker, my beautiful lady sure knew her teas. We bonded over discussions of psychology, religion, art, science, healthy living, and creativity while I sipped cappuccinos, cold brews, or espressos as she had her chai, hot or iced tea in hand.
Along with family and friends, she encouraged me to go after my dreams of owning my own coffee business, so I decided to go get a bit more training and education in Portland, Oregon, and worked in Los Angeles as a barista. My fiancé, and soon to be wife was born and raised in Texas and is a Longhorn Alum, and we have always wanted to be back in Austin. While my fiancé wanted to bring love, grace, and healing to people’s lives through therapy, I seek to bring a little more shine and joyful life to people’s day with an artisan beverage made by Therapy Coffee and Tea, with Love,
